Connecting Google Ads
Connect your Google Ads account to Leadbehavior to send conversion value adjustments based on lead quality scores. This allows Google Ads' bidding algorithms to optimize toward higher-quality leads.
Prerequisites
- A Google Ads account
- A Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) that manages the account you want to connect
- A WEBPAGE conversion action in Google Ads (required for conversion adjustments)
- A Leadbehavior account with an active subscription
Setup Steps
1. Navigate to Google Ads Settings
- Log in to app.leadbehavior.com
- Go to Account in the navigation menu
- Click Google Ads (or open app.leadbehavior.com/account/google-ads directly)
2. Connect to Google Ads
- Click Connect To Google Ads
- You'll be redirected to Google to authorize Leadbehavior
- Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Google Ads accounts
- Grant the requested permissions and return to Leadbehavior
3. Select Your Manager Account ID
After authorization, you'll see a dropdown of your Google Ads Manager Accounts (MCCs).
- Select the Manager Account that manages the Google Ads account you want to use
- Manager accounts are displayed as
Account Name (ID)
4. Select Your Account ID
Once you've selected a Manager Account, a second dropdown will show the Google Ads accounts under that manager.
- Select the Google Ads Account where your conversion actions live
- While not as common, the Account ID can be the same as the Manager Account ID
- Click Set Customer IDs to save
5. Link a Conversion Action to a Lead
After connecting your Google Ads account:
- Navigate to Leads and edit an existing lead (or create a new one)
- In the Google Ads Conversion Action dropdown, select the conversion action to use
- Only WEBPAGE conversion actions are supported—other types will appear disabled
See Creating and Modifying Leads for full details on lead configuration.
Changing Your Google Ads Account
If you need to change the connected Manager Account or Account ID:
- Go to Account → Google Ads
- Click Edit
- Select new Manager Account and/or Account IDs
- Click Update
Caution
Changing your Google Ads account IDs is destructive. After updating, immediately edit your leads to re-select conversion actions for the new account.
Reconnecting
If you're experiencing issues with the Google Ads connection:
- Go to Account → Google Ads
- Click Reconnect To Google Ads
- Complete the authorization flow again
Troubleshooting
No Manager Accounts appear in the dropdown
- Ensure the Google account you authorized has access to a Google Ads Manager Account (MCC)
- If you only have a standalone Google Ads account without a manager, you may need to create an MCC first
No accounts appear under the selected Manager Account
- The Manager Account may not have any child accounts linked to it
- Verify in Google Ads that your account is managed by the selected MCC
No conversion actions appear when editing a lead
- Verify your Google Ads account is connected in Account Settings
- Ensure you have at least one WEBPAGE conversion action in your Google Ads account
- Other conversion action types (e.g., app installs, phone calls) are not supported
Conversion adjustments not appearing in Google Ads
- Conversion adjustments are sent in a daily batch job—allow up to 24 hours for data to appear
- Verify your lead has a conversion action selected and is not archived
- Check that your lead has received events (view the lead's dashboard for usage data)
Next Steps
- Create a lead and link it to a Google Ads conversion action
